In Chinese Medicine, the tongue and the pulse act as a window into our general health. 

The tongues colour, shape, size, and coating alongside any cracks, spots and movement are all indicators of health patterns within the body (see illustration):

The pulses depth, strength and rate at different points on the wrist are also indicators to the health of the meridians (energy lines) linked to the main organs of the body (see illustration):

Together, the tongue and pulse can detect imbalances before they are necessarily experienced as signs and symptoms, thereby treating any disharmony in the body before it becomes an illness. Equally it can give key insights into existing illness and how to treat it.

Traditional acupuncture is a branch of Chinese Medicine that has been used for thousands of years to cultivate wellness and longevity by helping to activate the body’s own healing, thereby restoring balance and good health to the body.  The tongue and pulse diagnosis gives the acupuncturist beautifully detailed information about where any imbalances lie in your body and reveals how much vitality of Qi (energy) you have and where it may be blocked. This diagnostic information is used to formulate a bespoke treatment unique to you.
